Jasprit Bumrah Reprimanded: ICC Sanctions for Code of Conduct Breach
India’s premier fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, received an official reprimand and one demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the first Test against England.
Bumrah was found guilty of “inappropriate physical contact” with Ollie Pope during England’s second innings. The incident led to a deliberate obstruction as Pope attempted a run.
With figures of 2/28 and 4/41 in the Hyderabad Test, it marked Bumrah’s first offence in a 24-month period. The 28-run loss to England resulted in India dropping to fifth place in the World Test Championship standings, with a points percentage decrease from 54.16 to 43.33.
India’s next encounter with England is scheduled for February 2 at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
